Description
  • Completes daily tracking log of number of meals, food served, food/meal substitutions, and food temperature checks. 
  • Adheres to Food Safety manual regarding any and all food preparation practices.
  • Ensures preparation of all meals timely.
  • Ensures kitchen clean up on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that food and supplies are ordered from designated vendors and also performs general shopping, as required in the absence of the Lead Cook.
  • Ensures that adequate levels of food supplies are maintained including appropriate storage and rotating of supplies, under guidance of the lead cook.
  • Follows facility policies and procedures regarding proper sanitation, safety and infection control as mandated by the California Department of Health.
  • Prepares and Serves special diet orders (such as pureed, low sodium, mechanical soft).
  •  Ensures the cleaning and maintenance of a specific area of the facility as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations.
  • • Ensures the cleaning and maintenance of a specific area of the facility as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations.
  • • Ensures learning the cleaning and maintenance of the other areas of the facility.
  • • Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning chemicals and the proper use for each chemical.
  • • Ensures that chemicals are properly labeled.
  • • Ensures that cleaning cart is properly cleaned.
  • • Ensures that chemical are properly locked up and secured.
  • • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling in order to meet the staffing needs of the department.
  • • Ensures transport of soiled linen using the proper techniques to prevent contamination.
  • • Ensures the proper use of all designated housekeeping equipment, i.e., vacuum cleaners, buffer, carpet machine.
  • • Cleans floors to include dust mopping, damp mopping, stripping, buffing, sanitizing, waxing, and disinfecting. 
  • • Cleans carpet or rug areas to include vacuuming, detailing edges, shampooing, extracting, and bonnet buffing. 
  • • Changes curtains and drapes as needed. 
  • • Assist in moving furniture and equipment

Job Requirements

Experience

One year experience in institutional or commercial food service and housekeeping.

Skills

High school degree or equivalent preferred but not required.

Education Required

Maintains active California Food Handler Certificate.
