Nexus Health Systems Post-Hurricane Ike Update

September 30, 2008

During Hurricane Ike, all Nexus Health Systems healthcare facilities in the Houston area, which include HealthBridge Children’s Hospital in Houston, Nexus Specialty Hospital in The Woodlands and Shenandoah, and Touchstone Neurorecovery Center in Conroe, sheltered in place and fared well.  Nexus Health Systems collaborated with local disaster authorities to provide patient placement from evacuated areas.  Pre-storm planning enabled all facilities to successfully rely on generators when power outages occurred because of the storm.  Nexus’s dedicated employees and physicians comforted patients and families during the storm and worked quickly to return hospital operations to normal.  Patient care operations are normal for all Nexus Health Systems facilities.

Families, friends, and healthcare providers are encouraged to contact our healthcare facilities if they have any questions.
