Nexus Specialty Hospital Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Shenandoah Campus

Nexus Specialty Hospital’s Shenandoah campus marked its first year in operation in July 2006 with an anniversary celebration for its employees.  The festivities featured an assortment of food and raffle drawings for employees, and were attended by representatives of the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.

Nexus Specialty Hospital, which is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), represents one of the premier long term acute care facilities serving Montgomery County and the Greater Houston area.

The Shenandoah campus is the second for Nexus Specialty Hospital – the first being the original 21-bed facility in The Woodlands.  The hospital provides customized care for medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization for pulmonary, wounds, infectious disease, and cardiopulmonary issues.

The Shenandoah campus is a comprehensive and innovative facility, with a wide range of resources and offerings, including:

• A six-bed intensive care unit
• Telemetry systems allow for cardiac monitoring of patients from any room
• An endoscopy suite
• A treatment room for minor invasive procedures
• X-ray and ultrasound systems
• A laboratory and a pharmacy
• An after hours in-house physician
• Hemodialysis services
• Physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapists
• 24-hour nursing
• Physicians specializing in internal medicine, pulmonology, infectious disease, cardiology, nephrology, physical medicine, neurology, and more

Many of Nexus Specialty Hospital’s patients have experienced severe injuries or are living with chronic diseases or acute illnesses. The hospital’s medical team and trained professional staff help those patients achieve an enhanced quality of life and reclaim as much of their independence as possible.
