Markowski

Director
of
Physical
Medicine
and Rehab
at NSH

Nexus
Specialty
Hospital
has
appointed
Jon
Markowski,
M.D., as
program
director
of
physical
medicine
and
rehabilitation.
Dr.
Markowski
has more
than four
decades of
experience
as an
associate
professor
in Baylor
College of
Medicine’s
Department
of
Physical
Medicine.
For the
last six
years, he
also has
served as
a
consultant
in
physical
medicine
and
rehabilitation
and as the
medical
director
for
rehabilitation
at Kindred
Hospital.
He has
served in
several
other
faculty
positions,
including
posts with
the
Michael E.
DeBakey
Veterans
Affairs
Medical
Center in
Houston
and
Conradie
Hospital
in Cape
Town,
South
Africa.
Dr.
Markowski
currently
has
courtesy
faculty
appointments
at Kindred
Hospital,
St. Luke’s
Episcopal
Hospital,
The
Methodist
Hospital,
Texas
Children’s
Hospital,
and
Memorial
Hermann
Hospital.

Markowski

himself to

medical
professional
and his

research
background

regarding
innovative
approaches
and
practices,”

Markowski’s
knowledge

wide-ranging

our

As program
director,
Dr.
Markowski
will help
develop
treatment
procedures
and
protocols
for
patients
at Nexus
Specialty
Hospital.
He also
will
establish
policies,
procedures,
and
spearhead
training
initiatives
while
working
with case
managers
and
utilization
review
staff to
evaluate
patient
care plans
and
strategies.
Dr.
Markowski
received
his Doctor
of
Medicine
degree
from the
Academy of
Medicine
in Lodz,
Poland. He
participated
in
internships
at various
hospitals
affiliated
with the
Academy of
Medicine
and then
with
Parkland
Memorial
Hospital
in Dallas.
He
performed
his
residency
at The
University
of Texas
Southwestern
Medical
School in
Dallas. He
has
received
numerous
awards,
including
being
honored
with a
Distinguished
Service
Award from
Baylor
College of
Medicine’s
Department
of
Physical
Medicine &
Rehabilitation
in 2002
and being
recognized
as one of
the “Top
Doctors of
the City”
and one of
the “Best
Doctors in
America.”
