Swaby
Named
Administrator
at
Houston’s
HealthBridge
Children’s
Hospital

Geoffrey
Swaby has
been named
the new
administrator
for
HealthBridge
Children’s
Hospital
in
Houston, a
comprehensive,
interdisciplinary
care
facility
for
children
with birth
and
developmental
disorders,
catastrophic
illness,
or
traumatic
injury.
“Geoffrey
brings an
impressive
blend of
strategic
business
planning
experience
and
practical
operations
management
expertise,”
said Ed
Downs,
chief
operating
officer of
Houston-based
Nexus
Health
Systems.
“He has a
track
record of
success
with
programs
and
service
areas as
well as
helping
organizations
respond
accordingly
to market
and other
outside
forces.
Those are
important
qualities
for a
successful
hospital
administrator.
”
For the
last two
years,
Swaby
served as
the
manager of
pain,
urology,
and
diabetes
education
clinics
and as the
interim
manager of
sports
rehabilitation
in the
Memorial
Hermann
Texas
Medical
Center. In
that role,
he oversaw
staff in
multiple
departments
serving
16,000
patients a
year and
was
responsible
for a
budget of
more than
two
million
dollars.
He also
was
actively
involved
in
marketing
and
promotion
of the
hospital
in the
Houston
community.
From 2001
to 2005,
Swaby was
Memorial
Hermann
Hospital’s
director
of
diagnostic
and
procedural
services.
In that
capacity,
Swaby
helped
develop
and expand
the wound
care
program
from its
inception.
He also
spearheaded
the
rebuilding
of the
gamma
knife
department,
after the
floods of
Tropical
Storm
Allison
destroyed
it, and
built its
service
volume
back up to
pre-flood
levels.
In 2000,
Swaby was
honored as
Memorial
Hermann
Employee
of the
Year for
his
outstanding
contributions
to the
hospital
system.
Swaby
worked in
two other
positions
with
Memorial
Hermann.
He also
was the
technical
director
for
Hyperbaric
Oxygen
Therapy
Systems in
San Diego
in the
late
1980s.
Swaby
holds two
certifications
as a
practice
manager
and as a
hyperbaric
technician.
While in
the
Memorial
Hermann
system, he
served on
multiple
committees
and led
several
community
efforts.
He headed
up several
United Way
campaigns
and was on
the
Children’s
Miracle
Network
Employee
Fund
Raising
Committee
for seven
years. He
also is a
member of
the
American
College of
Healthcare
Executives
and an
associate
member of
the
Undersea
and
Hyperbaric
Medical
Society.
Swaby
received
his
Bachelor’s
of
Business
Administration
degree
from
LeTourneau
University
and his
Associates
of Science
degree
from the
Florida
Institute
of
Technology.
He
currently
is
pursuing a
Masters of
Business
Administration
degree
from the
University
of
Houston,
Clear
Lake.
