HealthBridge
Children’s
Hospital
held a
topping
out
ceremony
recently
to
celebrate
a new roof
on its
pediatric
specialty
hospital
at 2929
Woodland
Park Drive
in the
Westchase
area.
The new
roof is
part of a
$9.8
million
expansion
and
renovation
project at
the 24-bed
hospital,
which
treats
children
with birth
and
developmental
disorders,
catastrophic
illness or
traumatic
injury.
Construction
began in
August
2007 and
is
expected
to be
complete
this
December.
The
expansion
will add
16
inpatient
beds,
expand
outpatient
service to
include
physical,
occupational
and speech
therapies,
and add
infusion
therapy,
an
in-house
laboratory
and
radiology
capabilities.
Reception
and
nursing
stations
will be
improved,
and a
playground
will be
added with
rehabilitative
and
recreational
equipment.
In
addition,
the
rehabilitation
gym will
be
enlarged.
HealthBridge
is part of
Nexus
Health
Systems.
The
hospital
is
Houston’s
first and
only
pediatric
specialty
hospital
dedicated
to helping
children
from
infancy to
age 21
reach
their
highest
level of
wellness
and
development.
